Scopus Author ID is an identifier used in Scopus, a citation database is automatically assigned to an author who has published at least one publication indexed in Scopus groups together all the publications written by that author on the Scopus author profile

Some authors have similar names, or their names can appear differently in various publications. Scopus uses a powerful algorithm to match researchers' papers to correct author profile(s). The Scopus author identifier distinguishes you from other authors by assigning you a unique number and then grouping all your documents together. However, if your name has appeared in various ways during your authoring career or you’ve changed affiliations at any point, your publications may be spread over a number of different author profiles. We are excited to announce that Scopus is now incorporating preprints as a content type in Author Profiles to help Scopus users discover the latest contributions of a researcher. Preprints are non-peer-reviewed publications and are directly derived from arXiv, bioRxiv, ChemRxiv and medRxiv servers (with SSRN coming later this year) and follow their respective curation policies.
